Hi Katie,

When will we ever have our girls' getaway writers' weekend? Gotta make it happen!

Hm, my favorite...It's funny to think about that because I think David C should probably win because he's got such a strong recording voice, and is so musically versatile (I didn't dig him at first but he grew on me). That said, of those left I'd buy Jason's album first because I know his songs will fit him (as opposed to what AI makes him sing). I love his expressions, haha.

Profile Information

What years did you attend Mt. Hermon
First time was 1999. I've gone every year since.
About Me:
I think this is a great idea! The Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference has given me so much - friends, confidence, wisdom, a great publisher, a fabulous agent. My first Novel, To Dance in the Desert, came out in 2007. My second novel, The Feast of Saint Bertie, comes out in the fall of 2008. I look forward to staying in touch with all of you through this site.

Your most memorable moments/things at Mt. Hermon
The day I first set foot in a dining hall full of authors, editors and agents (oh my!) totally scared to death. Would they expose me for the impostor I was? I sat at the first table I saw, and just happened to sit next to Barbara Curtis. She read my badge and said, "You're Kathleen Popa? I read the article you sent in for critique. You're a good writer!"

The day I showed Gayle Roper a short story that had grown way too long, and she told me I was writing a novel, and should go home and finish it.

The day I told Jeff Dunn, then of David C. Cook, about that novel, which was by then half finished. When we sat down, he leaned back in his chair, but as I told him about the story, he sat up and leaned forward, and finally cut me off and said, "Please, finish writing this, and when you're done, send it to me. Here's my card."

The day Jeff Dunn told me Cook was buying the novel.

The day I met my agent, Janet Grant.
